The Happy Manatee: Our New Favorite Breakfast on Anna Maria Island
Fresh food, an amazing coffee selection with delicious foams, excellent gluten-free choices, beautiful design, and plenty of games for kids make The Happy Manatee our new go-to breakfast place on Anna Maria Island.
Some breakfast places are nice for one visit, while others become part of your holiday routine almost immediately. The Happy Manatee is already our new favorite breakfast place on Anna Maria Island—and our go-to whenever we want a fresh, relaxed, family-friendly start to the day.
An amazing coffee selection—and those foams
The coffee selection is amazing, with plenty of choices and delicious foams that make each drink feel extra special. My favorite was the toasted coconut iced latte—it was so good that I forgot to take a picture. That probably says everything about how quickly it disappeared.

A breakfast worth ordering twice
We ordered the tomato and burrata toast, and it was so good that we ordered another one. The combination was fresh, generous with flavor, and exactly the kind of breakfast that makes you slow down and enjoy every bite. The portions are on the smaller side, so very hungry diners may want to order a little extra, but everything tasted so fresh and thoughtfully prepared that we were happy to try more.

A heaven for gluten-free options
For anyone looking for gluten-free breakfast choices, The Happy Manatee feels like heaven. There are plenty of clearly marked gluten-free options, along with dairy-free choices, so it is much easier to find something exciting instead of settling for one safe item. The selection of breads, cookies, and baked treats made the display case especially tempting.

Fresh juices and a brilliant açaí bowl
The freshly squeezed juices are another reason to visit. I do not usually like beetroot juice, but the beetroot juice here was genuinely delicious—bright, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The açaí bowl was amazing too, with the kind of fresh, colorful ingredients that make breakfast feel like a treat.
Beautiful design with room for family fun
The atmosphere and design are beautiful: colorful, warm, playful, and full of character. It feels thoughtfully put together without feeling precious or formal, which is exactly right for a family breakfast.
There are lots of board games for kids, plus a good chess board that turned breakfast into a proper family challenge. Having something fun to do while everyone finishes a juice or waits for the next dish makes a big difference—and our family loved it.

Friendly service and an easy recommendation
The customer service was excellent and friendly from start to finish. That warmth, together with the fresh food and relaxed atmosphere, made the whole visit feel easy and genuinely enjoyable.
The Happy Manatee is now firmly on our list of places to return to every time we are on Anna Maria Island. Come for the tomato and burrata toast, stay for the fresh juices, açaí bowl, gluten-free treats, beautiful room, and board games—and do not be surprised if it becomes your new favorite breakfast place too.
